The live widget

Mrs. NetShow is an AI agent.

One paste puts a talking agent on any website: the two-line tag, site verification, how it greets first, and its voice on the NetShow proxy.

Guided article

One paste puts a NetShow agent on any website. It is not a chat box: it is a live character with a face and a voice that greets the visitor first, the way a shop assistant says hello when the door opens. It says it is an AI in its first line, and the visitor can interrupt it at any time. This page shows the paste, what each part does, how it greets, and how its voice reaches the visitor through the NetShow proxy.

The paste

The owner copies the tag from the agent's embed page, GET /dashboard/agents/{agentId}/embed. It is two lines: one script and one element.

<script src="https://app.netshow.ai/alive-kit/alive-kit.js" defer></script>
<alive-agent agent="your-agent-slug" look="auto" mode="container" mint-url="https://app.netshow.ai/api/widget/voice/mint-url/your-agent-slug"></alive-agent>

Always copy the tag from the embed page rather than typing it: the page fills in the agent's own address name (its slug), adds a version number to the script address, and picks the mode from the agent's stage settings. The embed page hands out this two-line Alive Kit tag while ai.features.owner_embed_alive_kit is on. Older installations keep working: with that switch off the page hands out the earlier one-line chat widget tag (/js/ns-chat-widget.js) or the voice-site element, and both keep answering. Each switch named here is off until your administrator turns it on.

Before it can answer: verify the site

The widget answers only on a website the owner has proved is theirs, and only over https://.

  1. On the embed page, add the site's address. This posts to POST /dashboard/agents/{agentId}/embed/origins.
  2. Publish the small check file the page gives you on that site.
  3. Press Verify (POST /dashboard/agents/{agentId}/embed/origins/verify). The site's row turns active.

Until then the agent stays quiet on that site. No NetShow person needs to approve it.

The attributes

Attribute What it does
agent The agent's slug (lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens). Required.
look auto (default: the look grows and shrinks with the space), or one of ascii, sketch, svg, toon, 2d, 3d. Every default look is a character, never a photo face.
mode container (lives in the box where you pasted it), free (walks the page as an overlay) or stage (owns the stage, full overlay). Anything else means container.
mint-url Where the widget asks for a short-lived voice grant. The embed page fills it in.
lang Optional. The language to speak; without it the widget follows the visitor's browser or phone language, and English when that language is not supported.
greeting Optional. The first line, if the owner wrote one.

It greets first

  • At once: the character is visibly alive (it blinks, smiles, looks up) and shows its greeting as a caption, for example "Hi, I'm Ava, an AI host. You can interrupt me anytime."
  • At the visitor's first touch anywhere on the page (a tap, a click, a key, a scroll), it speaks the greeting aloud. Browsers block sound until that first touch, so this is the earliest a page may speak. There is no "tap to talk" button.
  • Then it leads: it asks the page's one key question and keeps the conversation going. The visitor can interrupt it at any time.

While ai.features.communicator_greets_without_asking is on, the tag never waits for a Talk press. The public door it greets through is GET /api/door/{slug}/greets-first, which answers only while ai.features.pasted_widget_greets_first is on.

One small menu, no buttons around it

When the character is free on the page it has no controls drawn around it. Hovering it (desktop) or tapping it (phone) shows one small menu: camera, mute and volume, language, size and position, back to its box, and end. The camera is never on by default: the agent asks by voice when seeing would help, and only with the visitor's yes.

Voice on the NetShow proxy

The widget never uses the browser's built-in voice or recorded clips. Every line is spoken live by the model, in this order (the order NetShow uses while ai.features.voice_ladder_mini_first is on):

  1. The NetShow proxy, mini voice (gpt-realtime-2.1-mini, the registry's audio.realtime lane): the default.
  2. The NetShow proxy, full voice (gpt-realtime-2.1, the audio.realtime.flagship lane): the upgrade.
  3. The free on-prem voice, where it is switched on.
  4. GPT Live, only on sites that were approved for it, under a daily ceiling.
  5. Captions: if no voice can be reached, the agent still answers in words on screen.

The order is held by App\Support\Voice\VoiceLadder, and the voice itself is chosen by one resolver, AgentRealtimeService::resolveVoice(). The house voices are marin (Mrs. NetShow) and cedar (Mr. NetShow); an owner can choose another. The widget gets its voice grant from GET /api/widget/voice/mint-url/{slug}; the grant is short-lived and tied to the verified site, so no key ever sits in your page.

Costs and limits

A stranger's turn spends on the house lane for visitor turns (ai.spend.lanes.visitor_turn_runtime.daily_ceiling_usd), and GPT Live on its own lane with its own ceiling. A ceiling of 0 means closed. When a lane is closed or used up for the day, the turn is refused instead of spending more.

What you can do without a key

Everything in the page itself: the two lines need no key, token or secret. The owner's verified site is the permission.
