You can give visitors a way to reach your agent from a Webflow site today: add a button or link to the agent's own NetShow page. Do not paste the website tag into a Webflow-hosted site yet. NetShow asks you to prove that you control the website before its bubble can answer visitors, and Webflow hosting cannot put the required proof file at the address NetShow checks. If you paste the tag anyway, visitors will see a bubble that says the door is closed instead of getting an answer.
Webflow's menu names below are its own as of September 2026 and may move. If you cannot find them, search Webflow's help for “Webflow custom code footer”.
Give visitors a working link now
First, make sure your agent is public. Publish it walks that step. A private agent cannot welcome visitors from a public link.
Open that agent's Deploy page in NetShow. Find Hosted Share Link, which offers a direct link to your agent's own page without needing your website to run its code. Copy the link shown there. In Webflow, add a “Button” or an ordinary link where visitors will find it, set its destination to the copied address, then save and publish your site. Open the published page and use the button yourself. It should take you to the agent's NetShow page. This route does not depend on Webflow accepting a verification file, so it is the route to use while your site stays on Webflow hosting.
Use words on the button that tell visitors where they are going, such as “Meet our agent”. The link opens the agent's own page; it does not place the agent inside your Webflow page. If you later change the button text or where it sits, publish the Webflow site again and check the published page.
Where the website tag would go
If you are looking for the website code location, Webflow puts site-wide code under “Site settings”, then “Custom code”, in the “Footer code” box. Save the change and publish the site again: custom code runs on the published site. Webflow requires a paid site plan for custom code. Keep this location in mind, but do not paste the NetShow tag there while the site is hosted by Webflow, because the required verification step cannot finish.
On NetShow's embed page, Step 1 is Paste this tag into your website. Its Copy code button copies one script tag. The page says to place it just before </body> on every page where you want the bubble. A site-wide footer code box is Webflow's place for that kind of tag. The tag contains your agent's web address name and where it sends conversations, so it needs to stay exactly as NetShow gives it to you. Knowing where it belongs does not bypass the ownership check.
Why Verify stops on Webflow hosting
Step 2 on the NetShow page is Add your website and verify it. You type the site's address into Website address and press Request this site. Then Verify ownership and activate chat shows the exact text to publish at /.well-known/netshow-origin.txt on that address. Verify and activate checks that one file directly. The address cannot redirect to a different page. Until the check passes, the bubble cannot reply to visitors on your site.
A Webflow-hosted site cannot publish a file at that exact path. Putting the text in a normal Webflow page, a footer box, or a different URL will not pass NetShow's check. There is no setting on the NetShow embed page that replaces the file proof. Leave the tag off the published Webflow site and use the Hosted Share Link button instead.
If you export the Webflow site and host those files on your own server, that is a different setup: your server may be able to serve the proof file at the exact path. In that case, follow Put your agent on a plain HTML website for NetShow's tag and verification steps. Check that your server can serve the file before putting the tag on a page visitors use. For a site that remains on Webflow hosting, keep the direct link in place.
