You can bring an agent you already run on your own computer home to one of your NetShow agents. Your NetShow agent stays in charge and keeps its face, its voice and its name; your own agent joins it as an observer and answers only the questions you send it. The Harness guide gives the overview. This guide walks every step, from the one-time code to detaching.
Your visitors never meet your own agent. They still meet your NetShow agent, voice-first and hands-free: it speaks first in NetShow's own voice, a visitor's microphone opens only after the visitor taps, and typed chat sits in the small menu for people with no microphone or speaker.
1. Open the board
On your agent's page, follow the Harness agents link. The board opens with:
Your avatar coordinates. Your own harness agent comes home as an observer.
A grey Coordinator role button explains why it stays with your NetShow agent: Only your NetShow Live avatar can coordinate - it holds the voice, the face and the spending fence.
Under Your harness home a new board says No harness agent is home yet. Attach yours below.
2. Pick a recipe
The page Bring your agents home lists each kind of agent you might run and whether it can
connect today. To open it, add /recipes to the end of the board's address. A card marked
Ready shows the exact command to run; a card marked Connection unavailable says why in
one line, and you cannot attach that kind yet.
The page is plain about what leaves with your agent: Connecting does not share your avatar’s memory or let a harness spend through NetShow.
To try the connection first, the Headless CLI agent card offers an echo connector,
node scripts/outside-agents/harness-connector.mjs --echo, which simply sends your text back, so
you can check the path without any model at all.
3. Make the one-time code
Back on the board, under Attach your agent:
- Type an Agent name you will recognise. The recipe cards use "CLI agent"; if you choose
another name, give the connector the same name with its
--nameoption. - Choose the Agent family that matches your recipe card.
- Press Attach. The line under it reads Create a private one-time code for your agent.
A code appears with the line Enter this code in the connector on your own machine. It is shown only here. A countdown under it shows how long it has left: it expires after five minutes. The board does not show it again once you leave or refresh, and it works for one connection only. Never paste it anywhere except the connector's prompt.
While the code waits, Your harness home shows your agent's name and "Waiting for your agent to connect." If the five minutes run out, press Reconnect; its note reads Make a fresh code for this agent.
4. Run the connector on your machine
On the computer where your agent already works, run the command from its recipe card, as the page words it: Run the connector from its checkout and set its --base option to this NetShow site’s address. When the connector asks, paste the code. Your agent runs on your own machine; NetShow does not run it for you.
Back on the board, Your harness home now reads "Home. Connected." with the name and family your agent declared. Its skills are listed as Skills — declared by your agent, not checked by NetShow.
5. Ask it a question and read the receipt
Under Ask your harness agent:
Only this question goes to your harness. Its answer stays here for you to read.
Type into Your question and press Ask this agent. The note says Send one question, up to 4000 characters. Your harness has 60 seconds to answer. Up to five questions can wait at once.
A receipt line appears under the box straight away, starting with "Waiting for" and your agent's name. When your agent replies, it changes to "Answered by", and the answer shows below it. The line also says what NetShow spent on the question (nothing: the work ran on your machine) and how many seconds it took. A question nobody answers in time reads "Expired with".
6. Changes wait for your click
You can ask your NetShow agent to pause, resume, rename or detach your own agent. Nothing happens on its own: open or refresh the board, and the card Your avatar proposes reads the change back, for example "Pause CLI agent."
The change happens only when you click Confirm. This preview expires after five minutes.
Press Confirm to make it, or Dismiss to drop it.
7. Detach it
Press Detach under Your harness home. Its note says what it does: Disconnect this agent and clear its relay data.
The board then reads "Detached. Your agent is no longer connected." From that moment the connector on your machine is turned away, any question still waiting is refused, and Ask this agent stays off. To bring an agent home again, press Attach and make a fresh code.
