Creating an agent gives it a first set of instructions. After that, the place you come back to is the agent editor: one page per agent, with its words, its knowledge and its channels in tabs.
Where the editor is
Open your agents list. On each agent you own there is a small wand button titled
Unified Editor. It opens the editor for that agent (/dashboard/agents/{id}/unified).
The editor has four rows of tabs. The first row, Who Is Your Agent, holds everything this guide covers: Identity, Personality and Knowledge. The Save button at the top of the page saves the tab you are looking at, so press it before you move to the next tab.
Identity: who it is
- Agent Name is the name visitors see.
- Role is the job in a few words. The page's own hint says it plainly: what job does this agent do? "Front desk for a dental practice" is more useful than "Assistant".
The same tab carries the Public link and the Marketplace listing switches. Those decide who can reach the agent, not what it says; Publish it and Find it on the shelf walk through them.
Personality: how it sounds
- Soul MD is a free-form description of the agent's character and operating principles. This is the natural place to write what it must never do: never promise a delivery date, never give medical advice, always hand a complaint to a person.
- Tone sets the register.
- Goal and Background say what it is working towards and the context it works in.
- Welcome Message is the line it opens with. It has its own guide: Give it a voice that speaks first.
Knowledge: what it knows
The Knowledge tab opens on Knowledge Base. The box you will use most is Knowledge Text. Paste into it whatever your agent should be able to answer from:
- A page. Copy the text of your services page, your opening hours, your returns policy.
- A pasted FAQ. Question on one line, answer under it. Plain text works; headings help.
- The parts of a document that matter. Open the document, copy the sections a customer would ask about, and paste them here.
Under it, Tags (comma-separated) lets you label the knowledge (for example
bookings, returns, opening hours).
You will also see a Knowledge Documents drop box. Uploading a document straight into the agent's knowledge from this editor is coming; until it arrives, paste the text instead. Pasted text is the route this guide can vouch for.
To see what the agent now knows, come back to the Knowledge tab: the Knowledge Text box shows exactly what you saved, nothing more and nothing less.
Try it before anyone else does
At the top of the editor, next to Save, are two buttons:
- Chat opens a typed conversation with the agent.
- Talk opens a spoken one.
Ask the agent a question only your new Knowledge Text can answer, then one your Soul MD should shape ("Can you give me a delivery date?"). Read the answers, not the settings. If an answer does not reflect what you just wrote, the agent is still leaning on the instruction set it was given at creation. Say what you want more plainly, save, and ask again.
Nobody else can reach a private agent, so this is the safe place to get it wrong a few times. When the answers sound right, publish it.
Two things this editor does not change
- The instruction set from creation. The body of instructions written when you created the agent is kept as its own versioned record. Editing that body from your dashboard is coming; today the editor tabs above are how you shape the agent after creation.
- The face. Its look is chosen at creation, and the Studio edit bay that tunes a face is coming. Change how it looks covers what can change today.
