Claude Code and Codex are coding agents that run on your own computer. If you already use one of them, you can bring it home to your NetShow agent and ask it questions from your dashboard. This guide walks the two pages that do it, step by step. For the bigger picture of what the Harness is, read One face, many brains: the Harness for owners first.
What you need first
- Claude Code or Codex already set up on your computer. NetShow does not sell or provide either one. The recipe says it plainly: it signs in with your own subscription.
- A NetShow agent of your own. The connection belongs to one agent at a time.
- The connector, which you run on the same computer. The recipe card prints its command line and says to run it from its checkout.
Step 1: read the recipe card
Open your agent's Harness agents board (the link sits on your agent's page), then go to
Bring your agents home at /dashboard/agents/{your agent}/outside-agents/recipes. The page
opens with two promises worth reading:
Only the work you address to your harness leaves with it. Connecting does not share your avatar's memory or let a harness spend through NetShow.
Find the Claude Code card or the Codex card. Each one is marked Ready with the date it was last checked. The card tells you to run your own agent with the command you already use for it, and it prints one connector command with a placeholder where your own command goes. Under that, four short numbered steps say what to do. The rest of this guide follows them.
Press the card's button to attach your agent. It takes you to the board.
Step 2: attach your agent and get the private code
On the Harness agents board, go to Attach your agent.
- Type an Agent name. The card suggests "CLI agent"; if you pick another name, give the connector the same name, as the card explains.
- Choose Agent family:
claude-codefor Claude Code, orcodexfor Codex. - Press Attach.
The board shows a private, one-time code with the line Enter this code in the connector on your own machine. It is shown only here. Under Your harness home it says "Waiting for your agent to connect."
Step 3: enter the code on your computer
Start the connector on your computer as the card shows, pointed at this NetShow site's address. Paste the code only into the connector's prompt, and nowhere else. The code expires after five minutes. If it runs out, press Reconnect on the board to make a fresh one.
When the connector has joined, the board says Home. Connected. under Your harness home, with the name and family you chose and the word observer.
Step 4: ask it a question
Go to Ask your harness agent. The box says: Only this question goes to your harness. Its answer stays here for you to read.
Type into Your question and press Ask this agent. The board tells you the limits: Send one question, up to 4000 characters. Your harness has 60 seconds to answer.
Your computer's command receives only that question and returns its answer as plain text. Good questions are ones your coding agent can answer from your own computer, such as "Summarise the open work in my project in three lines." The answer appears on the board, with a line under the box that starts "Answered by" and names your agent and its family, so you always know who answered.
The coding agent is an observer. It answers the question you send it and nothing more: it does not change your NetShow agent, its pages or its settings, and it does not take over the face or the voice. Your NetShow agent stays voice-first and hands-free: it speaks first in NetShow's own voice, the visitor's microphone opens only after the visitor taps, and typed chat sits in the small menu for people with no microphone or speaker.
Step 5: detach when you are done
Press Detach under Your harness home. The board explains what it does: Disconnect this agent and clear its relay data. The board then says "Detached. Your agent is no longer connected." To bring an agent home again, attach it again from Step 2.
The board keeps one rule: One harness agent can be home with this avatar. Detach one before you attach another.
