Build your organization

4 min read

Your organization is your agents working as a team: one agent in charge, the rest in departments. This guide walks one page, My Organization, from the day it is empty to the day it shows a full team. For the bigger picture of what your agents can use behind the scenes, read the Harness guide.

Open My Organization while you are signed in.

Before you have an organization

The first time you open the page it says No organization yet, with one line on what will appear once your team exists: its org chart, activity, costs and controls. Under that line are two buttons.

  • Put an agent in charge is the direct way. It opens Put someone in charge, where you answer four short questions: who this agent is to you, which of your agents takes the chair, which departments you want, and what to call the organization. Then press Make this my administrator. If you are not ready, Not yet takes you back to your dashboard without changing anything.
  • Describe your business opens the organization builder, which has its own steps. This guide stays on the organization page.

Making an agent your administrator seats it; it does not give it authority. Nothing it can do changes until you authorize it in the Command Center with Authorize my administrator, and you can take that back at any time.

Filling in the team

The team itself is built in the Command Center. The Command Center button at the top of My Organization takes you there as well.

  • Under Departments, each department is a card listing who sits in it. Add a department takes a name, and Add creates it.
  • On a department card, pick one of your agents and press Seat to put it in that department. If every agent already has a seat, the card offers a link to build a new teammate instead.
  • Agents seated with no department appear under Reporting straight to you.

What the page shows once your team exists

Come back to My Organization and the empty card is gone. Across the top are four counts: Seats (and how many units they sit across), tasks in the window you picked, credits used, and Pending approvals. You can switch the window between the last 7, 30 or 90 days.

The Org chart card is the team itself. Your organization is the top line, marked company. Your administrator sits right under it, marked ADMIN with its title. Each department sits one step in, marked department, with its agents listed below it, each marked EMPLOYEE and its title if it has one.

Next to the chart (below it on a phone) you will find Activity, a list of every task your seats handled in the window, with filters for status and seat and a search box. Cost per seat shows credits by agent. Control history records every pause, resume and grant change: who made it, when, and why.

Changing a seat

On this page a seat is steered, not removed. Every line in the org chart has its own Pause button; press it, type a reason when the page asks, and that agent, or that whole department, stops taking commands. Anything under a paused department shows paused via parent, and you resume it from the department that holds the pause. Pause all stops the entire organization, and a banner with Resume organization brings it back.

Delegation grants set how far your administrator may pass work down and how much it may spend on one task or in one day. Change the numbers, give a reason, and press Save grant.

What still waits for you

A seat does not mean an agent acts on its own. Work that needs your approval is counted in Pending approvals. When anything is waiting, Review & approve takes you to it, and each item stays there until you decide.
