Use the Alive Kit WordPress plugin

The NetShow Alive plugin puts one live host on a WordPress site that you control. The host is an AI. It greets visitors in a caption, carries one small menu and can speak through NetShow when voice has been opened for that site. The plugin is for WordPress software on your own hosting, or a WordPress.com plan that permits plugin uploads.

The public download page is controlled by the WordPress plugin page switch. If /plugins/wordpress says the page is not found, the switch is off. Ask the NetShow owner who manages your site to open it before continuing; do not install a zip from another source.

1. Download the plugin

Go to /plugins/wordpress. Read the version shown there, then download the NetShow Alive zip. Keep it as a zip. You do not need to open or rename it.

You also need the public name of the NetShow agent you want on the site. A signed-in owner can follow the agent link on the plugin page to its website settings. If you have not published an agent, start with Publish it.

2. Install it in WordPress

Sign in to your WordPress administration area. Go to Plugins, add a new plugin, choose the upload option, and select the zip you downloaded. Install it, then activate it.

After activation, go to Settings, then NetShow Alive. Enter your agent's public name in the host-name field. Save the settings. Do not paste an API key into this screen; the plugin does not need one.

3. Prove the site is yours

Open your agent's website settings in NetShow and add the site's full HTTPS address. Request the site, then open its verification instructions. Copy the exact proof text NetShow gives you.

Back in the plugin settings, paste that text into the website-proof field and save. Return to NetShow and run the verification. If the check cannot read the proof, follow Put your agent on a WordPress site for the file-upload method. The site must be verified before the host can answer visitors.

4. Put the host on every page

In Settings, NetShow Alive, turn on the setting that places the live host on every page. Choose a character look, a left or right corner, and either the visitor's browser language or a fixed language. Save again.

Open the public site in a private browser window. The character should appear after the page loads and greet in a caption. It should have one menu rather than a row of controls. The menu contains the visitor choices for sound, language and position. The host says it is an AI.

The plugin does not place the host in WordPress administration, on the sign-in page or on its separate /alive page. That page is a docked view of the same host. If /alive returns a missing-page message, save WordPress's permalink settings once, then try again.

5. Check voice and remove duplicates

Tap the character once and try one short exchange. A site whose NetShow voice door is not open stays in captions and says voice is unavailable; that is expected, not a reason to add browser speech. If an older NetShow site tag is present, the plugin steps it aside while the live host is enabled so visitors meet only one host.

To remove the host, turn off the every-page setting and save. To remove the plugin itself, deactivate it through WordPress. Your NetShow agent remains available on its own page.

Next: use Put your agent on a WordPress site for cache, WordPress.com and manual-install details.
