Put your agent on a Webflow site

4 min read

You can put your agent on a Webflow-hosted site. NetShow asks you to prove that you control the website before its tag can answer visitors. Webflow hosting cannot put a proof file at the address NetShow checks, so you add a short check tag to your site's head code instead. Once Verify and activate passes, you paste the chat tag. If you paste the chat tag before that, visitors will see your agent's live face saying the door is closed instead of getting an answer.

Webflow's menu names below are its own as of September 2026 and may move. If you cannot find them, search Webflow's help for “Webflow custom code”. Webflow requires a paid site plan for custom code.

Verify your site with the check tag

First, make sure your agent is public. Publish it walks that step. Then open that agent's Deploy page in NetShow, and from there its website embed page.

Step 2 on the NetShow page is Add your website and verify it. Type the site's address into Website address and press Request this site. Use the address your browser finally shows for your published site, for example the www address if your bare domain moves there.

Then open Verify ownership and activate chat under that address. It first shows a file option, which Webflow hosting cannot use. Below it, the page offers a tag to add inside the <head> of your home page, for sites on Webflow and other site builders. Copy that check tag exactly as shown; it is one meta line made for this site.

In Webflow, open “Site settings”, then “Custom code”, and paste the check tag into the “Head code” box. Save the change and publish the site again: custom code runs only on the published site.

Back on the embed page, press Verify and activate. NetShow reads your home page at the exact address you requested and looks for the tag in its head. The home page must open directly at that address, without a redirect. When the check passes, the address shows as active. If it stays pending, open your published home page, view its source, and look for the meta line before </head>. Leave the check tag in Head code after Verify.

Paste the chat tag

On the embed page, Step 1 is Paste this tag into your website. Its Copy code button copies one script tag. The page says to place it just before </body> on every page where you want your agent. In Webflow that is the “Footer code” box on the same “Custom code” screen. Paste the tag there exactly as NetShow gives it to you: it contains your agent's web address name and where it sends conversations. Save and publish the site again.

Open the published site in a browser. Your agent appears on each page and answers visitors on your verified address. To take it off later, remove the tag from Footer code and publish; on the embed page you can also withdraw the address.

Keep a link as a fallback

A button or link to the agent's own NetShow page always works. Open that agent's Deploy page in NetShow. Find Hosted Share Link, which offers a direct link to your agent's own page without needing your website to run any code. Copy the link shown there. In Webflow, add a “Button” or an ordinary link where visitors will find it, set its destination to the copied address, then save and publish your site. Open the published page and use the button yourself. It should take you to the agent's NetShow page.

Use words on the button that tell visitors where they are going, such as “Meet our agent”. The link opens the agent's own page; it needs neither tag nor verification.

If you export your Webflow site

If you export the Webflow site and host those files on your own server, that is a different setup: your server may be able to serve the proof file, and you edit the HTML files directly. In that case, follow Put your agent on a plain HTML website for NetShow's tag and verification steps.

How your agent greets your visitors

Once the tag answers, your agent greets each visitor first, the way a good host says hello when the door opens: its live face is there at once, its hello shows as a caption, and it speaks in the one live voice you gave it, on the NetShow voice, at the visitor's first tap, click or key, because browsers keep sound off until then. It never plays a recorded clip or the browser's voice, it says it is an AI, and a visitor can interrupt it anytime.
