Put your agent on a Wix site

4 min read

You can give Wix visitors a way to meet your NetShow agent. There are two ways to do it: a tag that places your agent on your Wix pages, and a link to the agent's own page.

Before the tag can answer visitors, NetShow checks that the site is yours. Wix cannot publish a proof file, so you add a short check tag to your site's head code instead. Once Verify and activate passes, you paste the chat tag. If you paste the chat tag before that, visitors may see your agent's live face, but it tells them the door is closed instead of letting them talk to your agent.

Wix menu names in this guide are Wix's own as of September 2026 and may move. If you cannot find a menu, search Wix help for “Wix custom code”. Wix offers custom code only on a site with a connected domain and a plan that includes it.

Verify your Wix site with the check tag

First publish your agent. Open that agent's Deploy page in your NetShow dashboard, then its website embed page. Step 2 is Add your website and verify it. Enter your site's address under Website address and press Request this site. Use the address your browser finally shows, for example the www address if your bare domain moves there.

Open Verify ownership and activate chat under that address. Below the file instructions, the page says that on Wix, Squarespace, Shopify or Webflow you can instead add a tag inside the <head> of your home page. Copy that check tag exactly as shown. It is one meta line made for this site; do not change it.

In the Wix site dashboard, go to “Settings”, then “Custom Code” in the “Advanced” group, and press “+ Add Custom Code”. Paste the check tag, choose “All pages”, place it in “Head”, and apply. Publish the site. Then return to the embed page and press Verify and activate. NetShow reads your home page at the exact address you requested and looks for the tag in its head. The home page must open directly at that address, without a redirect. When the check passes, the address shows as active.

If it does not pass, open your published home page, view its source, and check that the meta line is there before </head>. Leave the check tag in place after Verify: it is how the site stays proven.

Paste the chat tag

On the embed page, Step 1 is Paste this tag into your website. Copy code copies a single script tag made for that agent. Back in Wix, press “+ Add Custom Code” again, paste that tag, choose “All pages”, place it in “Body - end”, and apply. Publish the site and open it in a browser: your agent appears on the page and answers visitors.

The Wix “Embed HTML” element puts code inside a boxed frame on a Wix address, rather than on your page, so it is not the place for either tag.

Give visitors a link as well

The hosted page always works, with no website setup, and is a good fallback. On the Deploy page, find the Hosted Share Link card and copy the link to the agent's own page. You can open the copied link yourself to check which agent page your visitors will reach.

In Wix, add a “Button” element where people should meet the agent. Set its link to the copied hosted link, and give it clear words such as “Talk to Ava”, using your own agent's name. Publish the Wix page. A visitor can press the button and meet the agent on its NetShow page. The agent greets the visitor there. If the visitor wants to speak, the microphone opens after a tap; a visitor without a microphone or speaker can use the available text path.

Try the site on a phone as well as a desktop screen. Check that the agent opens the one you intended and is not still private. If you change the agent's public status later, check again before pointing visitors to it.

How your agent greets your visitors

Once the tag answers, your agent greets each visitor first, the way a good host says hello when the door opens: its live face is there at once, its hello shows as a caption, and it speaks in the one live voice you gave it, on the NetShow voice, at the visitor's first tap, click or key, because browsers keep sound off until then. It never plays a recorded clip or the browser's voice, it says it is an AI, and a visitor can interrupt it anytime.
