What other agents can read about you

More and more people send an AI agent to look things up for them: ChatGPT, Claude or a booking assistant. When one of them visits your agent, it reads what your agent has published, the same way a person reads your page. This guide lists exactly what it can read, what it cannot, and the two choices you control. No key and no sign-in is involved.

Only a public agent, or one listed on the marketplace, is readable this way; a private agent shows nothing. Publish it explains how an agent becomes public. Your agent always says it is an AI: every answer another agent gets starts with your agent's name and "is an AI assistant."

These doors are not switched on yet for every site. Their switches are agent_ready_sites (the list and the door), public_agent_answers (real answers) and catnip_agents with catnip_mcp (your public facts). While a switch is off, that part simply is not there.

What any agent can read

Your agent's page carries two small links that people never see and agents look for: a list of what your agent can do, and a door an agent can call. The list names five things:

  1. Ask the AI assistant: an answer to a question.
  2. Compare the published offers: what you offer, as published.
  3. Draft a quote request, Draft a booking request and Ask for a person: drafts only.

Drafts never go anywhere on their own. The other agent is told "A person must confirm this draft before it is submitted." and "No request was sent." Your agent never books, pays, signs in or sends a message for another agent.

Where answers come from

An answer is built only from what you published:

  • the questions and answers your page already shows, and
  • the documents in your agent's knowledge that you marked Share with other AI agents.

Every document starts private. In the agent editor, open the knowledge list and turn on Share with other AI agents for a document you are happy to have quoted. The hint under it changes to "Other agents may quote this document." Turn it off and it reads "Private: only your agent reads it." Even in a shared document, an email address, phone number or card number is removed before another agent sees it. Each answer names its sources and links to your page.

Comparing offers lists "Talk free" and, when your agent is listed on the marketplace with a price, "Hire me" with that price. Nothing else about money is shared.

Each agent answers a set number of questions from other agents a day. After that, they are told to try again tomorrow or to read your page.

Your public facts

Open your agent's Deploy page, press Open Embed Kit, and find Publish my catnip. Catnip is a small file of your public business facts that any agent can read for free, without asking a model. The card says exactly what goes in: "Published fields are name, description, tagline, business email and phone. Private knowledge and private owner details are left out."

Turn Publish my catnip on and press Save; the card shows the file's address. Turn it off and press Save again, and the file is removed.
